Kaine Doubles Down on Deplorables in Stump Speech Democratic vice presidential nominee Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) speaks at Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center in Columbus, Ohio, U.S., July 31, 2016.

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine doubled down on Hillary Clinton's divisive comments. At a campaign speech in Ann Arbor, Michigan Kaine said  "you've got to call out deplorable behavior".

Kaine was weighing in on Hillary Clinton's comment calling half of Donald Trump supporters a "basket of deplorables."

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, in a comment Friday, dismissed half of Trump's supporters as belonging in a racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic, or Islamophobic "basket of deplorables."

Clinton's comments triggered a firestorm of criticism. She later said she regretted the comment.

Trump compared the comment Clinton made to a much criticized comment by 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney that 47 percent of the electorate were dependent on government.
