“We should work on launching an intifada in the face of the Zionist enemy.”
These were the words of Hamas’ leader on Thursday as he followed up calls for a “Day of Rage” against soldiers and citizens of Israel.
In a speech from the Gaza Strip, the Islamist group’s chief urged Palestinians, Muslims and Arabs to hold rallies on Friday against President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
Former Intifada’s called by Hamas have resulted in the killing of hundreds of Israeli’s and have lasted years. So far, violence in the wake of the announcement has been minimal, with only a dozen Palestinians gathering to throw rocks at Israeli soldiers along the Gaza border fence.
Thousands of Palestinians did however gather to chant "Death to America! Death to the fool Trump!" while they burned tires. In response, the Israeli military is deploying several new battalions to the region and placing other forces on standby incase the “Day of Rage” spirals into a “Night of Bloodshed.”
Turkey’s Prime Minister may have summarized it best in his statement that “the United States has pulled the pin on a bomb ready to blow.”
