Russian media reports say President Vladimir Putin is fully aware of what country staged the “terrorist” drone swarm attacks on his military installations in Syria, and it wasn’t Turkey.
In a statement carried by most Russian news outlets, Putin said the attacks on Khmeimim Airbase in Syria were a “provocation” aimed at undermining Russia’s relations with Turkey and Iran, as well as the “peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis.” He added:
"We know when and where those unmanned aerial vehicles were handed over and how many there were. Those aircraft were only camouflaged—I want to emphasize this—to look like handicraft production. In fact, it is quite obvious that there were elements of high-tech nature there."
Putin provided no additional information, but said Russia, Turkey, and Iran will respond to the “well-prepared” attacks—carried out over the past two weeks—“in solidarity.”
