The U.S. is preparing to leave the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization in December, according to a new report.
The Associated Press reports the move is based on UNESCO’s inherent anti-Israel bias. The U.S. stopped making payments to the agency in 2011, but maintained an office at its Paris headquarters in the hopes of encouraging a change of course from behind the scenes.
That has clearly failed, as evidenced by its continued push to remove all Jewish references to religious sites in the Holy Lands. Permanent Representative to the UN Nikki Haley has repeatedly denounced these actions, and said the U.S. was “evaluating” whether or not it should continue as a member of the organization.
